Recent Events

On November 12, 2014 Dara and new BBA member Joyce did a presentation at the Wilton Manors Library titled "Backyard Beekeeeping for the Beginner".

On June 20, 2014, Suzanne, Dan and Dara did a presentation for the Museum of Discovery and Science "Creepy Crawly Critters" Day. About 50 youngsters were enrolled and our members brought equipment, photos, honey, and bees to share with them. The Museum would like us to return again in the future. This was a non-paid, volunteer project by our three members. The Museum used to have a bee hive and we hope they will consider getting another one. Anyone who is interested in helping the museum explore the installation of an observation hive please contact Dara 954 871 8700.

On March 11, 2014 Suzanne Tucelli and Dara Kustler-khan did a presentation for the Deerfield Women's Club on Honey and Bees. Sam Comfort's honey was a hit and almost everyone at the meeting took home a jar of it. We taught them about treatment free beekeeping and the importance of honey bees for pollination in their gardens and our world.

The new Times magazine recently ran an article about our community apiary on Sample Road. This was followed by a photo shoot. Links to the article and photo shoot are at

Ivan Baratz gave a presentation to several groups of students at the Chabad SW school in Coral Springs.

Dr. Gosser and Mr. John Herring gave a presentation to the Sierra Club in Coconut Creek on July 11 at 7:30 in the evening.

March 16, 2013 Cuboree at Tree Tops Park. Leo Gosser and John Herring gave educational presentations to approximately 12 different Cub Scout troops. It was a very hectic day for all as some of the troops liked to make noise as part of their show of spirit.

March 20, Dan Novak gave an educational presentation to a group of 4-H children of all ages. There were over 30 4-Hers plus the parental support staff present.
